In Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, Hershel Layton is reunited with his apprentice Luke, who has called upon his former mentor for help. The game takes place in Steam Bison, a fictional city in the United States where the steam engine is on the rise. In a world full of innovation and technological progress, not everyone manages to keep up with the times. The ghost of a gunslinger, Gunman Joe, warns against these technological changes. But is it really a ghost, or is there something more to it? It’s up to you, together with Professor Layton and Luke, to unravel this mystery.

The main characters in Professor Layton and the New World of Steam are Hershel Layton and Luke Triton. Professor Layton, known for his sharp mind and signature top hat, is often called upon when mysteries need solving. His apprentice Luke usually travelled with him and assisted him, until Luke decided to follow his own path in America. In New World of Steam, Luke seeks the help of his former mentor, meaning you’ll once again set off with both of them by your side. Throughout the game, you’ll encounter a range of colourful characters who will help you along the way and present you with new puzzles.
